Björn Nehrhoff von Holderberg

Björn Nehrhoff von Holderberg is a long time Hilleberg user and regular contributor of excellent photos to our Handbook. He is the author of five books, and a full time writer and photographer, working for kayaking, trekking and biking magazines. So he spends a great deal of his time outdoors. That might be hiking, often in the Swedish mountains, or biking. His favorite, however, and what he calls “the supreme discipline of outdoor sports,” is sea kayaking. “Being on a longer trip on a remote coastline,” he says, “one can discover lonely islands, see whales blow or ride waves and generally be challenged by the elements – all are part of a happy adventure on the sea!” But regardless of the trip, it’s nearly always with a Hilleberg tent. “The reason is simple,” he says. “When you get to a place after a long and exhausting day, you need a place that lets you regain your strength for what’s coming next, regardless of whether it’s blowing like mad, snowing, hailing, or raining cats and dogs. You need a tent that you can rely on 100%.” On sea kayaking trips with his wife, he uses his Allak. When he’s out on his own, he takes his Soulo. If he’s hiking high in the Swedish countryside with a friend, he chooses the roomy, lightweight Nallo. And when winter comes with its snow and storms, “I feel truly sheltered in my Staika,” he says.
